Core competencies – bilge water management
Around its core product – the oily water separator OWS-COM – RWO has developed specialised products to make the management of bilge water efficient as possible. The OWS-COM consists of an efficient two stage filtration system that is most economic, as it bypasses the second stage whenever possible. Advantages include:
- Extremely compact: suitable for newsbuilds and retrofit
- Easy to install and maintain
- Extremely economical: regular water checks ensure that a second stage of separation is bypassed whenever possible
- Suction type: preserves pump from attrition
- Extremely safe: Oil Monitoring device activates recirculation mode if required
The clean bilge drain monitoring system CBM-LINK helps monitoring the amount of oil that is discharged overboard easily to avoid pollution or hefty fines. The system is compromised of two systems working together seamlessly: LINK stores and sends important operational data while CBM acts as the final level of control before water is drained off the ship. A 3-2 way valve automatically governs incoming wastewater which has been analysed according to IMO Resolution MEPC 107 (49)and transfers it either directly overboard or back into the bilge water tank for further treatment.
Sewage Treatment
RWO offers with its product line CleanSewage (CS) a range of products for the treatment of marine wastewaters such as sewage and wastewater from accomodation, laundry and galleys. It is crucial that vessels meet the high effluent standards set by the IMO resolution MEPC.227(64). Therefore RWO provides the CS-BIO product family for cargo vessels as well as the advanced water purification plant CS-MBR and engineered systems for passenger vessels.
With the CleanSewage – Membrane Bioreactor (CS-MBR) RWO has developed an advanced wastewater treatment (AWT) system fit for the requirements of sustainable passenger shipping as well as other high-standard applications. The CS-MBR is type approved acc. to IMO MEPC.227(64) including chapter 4.2 for nitrogen and phosphorus removal and thus allowed to operate in special areas like the baltic sea. Also highly efficient removal of bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms allows compliance to Alaskian discharge notations.
Leading towards a more sustainable future, our RWO products for marine sewage are compatible with additional environmental class notations such as BV Clean, CleanSuper, DNV-GL Clean(Design) and AWT-A/B.
Ballast Water Treatment
After actively observing and evaluating the situation in the ballast water market, especially in terms of USCG and revised IMO G8 regulations, RWO has signed the letter of intent to gain USCG type approval for its Clean Ballast system in June 2018, formalising the decision to continue with the development of a ballast water treatment system. The land based test is commencing summer 2018 and a partner for the shipboard test has already been confirmed. This strengthens the company's positive outlook towards achieving IMO G8 and USCG type approval.
Fresh Water Treatment
RWO's reverse osmosis desalination systems (SRO) are designed for independent and reliable potable and/or process water supply onboard ships and offshore facilities.
The reverse osmosis process is ideal for fresh water or process water generation – being easy to operate, economical and producing excellent water quality.
A main advantage is the continued production of high quality fresh water from unpolluted seawater that is free of oil and chlorine.
What is special about the SRO-COM is its pre-assembled skid mounted design, which is ready for installation and operations on board due to its "plug-and-play"-principle.
This desalination plant has a stable permeate flow over the complete temperature range from 1°C-35°C.
