Valmet is a global developer and supplier of technologies, automation and services for many industries, including the marine segment. Valmet has more than 40 years of experience as an automation system supplier. Scrubbers for exhaust gas cleaning is one of Valmet's emerging business areas.
Valmet's net sales in 2016 were approximately €2.9 billion. Our 12,000 professionals around the world work close to our customers and are committed to moving our customers' performance forward - every day. Valmet's head office is in Espoo, Finland, and its shares are listed on the Nasdaq Helsinki.
The Valmet DNA automation system is modular, flexible and scalable for a wide range of ship types and application tasks. The automation system offers cost-efficient solutions for all kinds of vessels - e.g. a cruise, offshore supply, RoPax vessel or icebreaker.
With Valmet DNA, we are supplying fully integrated control, alarm and monitoring solutions for machinery, electric power, cargo and air-conditioning plants.
Also, a wide range of automation system services from spare parts supply, on-call and scheduled visits to remote diagnostics are offered within our Shared Journey Forward services approach.
The Valmet DNA Energy Management System handles the energy performance in machinery and hotel technical systems. The solution provides an overview of the energy flow and performance of all major energy consumers onboard. The system visualises the energy flowm consumption and losses. It is a valuable tool to improve on the total energy efficiency, and helps the vessel to save fuel and expenses.
Real and historical data are combined to provide normalised values, deviation from key performance indicators (KPI), traffic light information, trend curves and reports. Through remote connection the ship owner is able to analyse data and gather reports.
Valmet DNA bilge and ballast concept can be taken beyond the traditional manual remote control systems by including an automatic bilge-emptying programme, automatic transfer of ballast water, etc. Integration to ballast water treatment system is available according to vendor specifications.
Valmet DNA Machine Condition Monitoring measures and analyses the mechanical condition and performance of rotating machinery units based on vibration measurements and other machine parameters. DNA Machine Monitoring provides both protection and diagnostics for critical machinery, as well as condition monitoring and analysing tools for the predictive maintenance of the machinery.
Valmet is the first company to introduce a dual water hybrid scrubber to the marine market. The development of our marine scrubber has a strong technical background, from deliveries to land-based power industries over several years. The marine scrubber has been delivered to container, general cargo and cruise vessels.
The hybrid scrubber is a combination of an open and closed loop scrubber where airborne emissions can be kept within regulatory limits in a cost-efficient way.
Leading the way for the industry, Valmet has developed a treatment system for scrubber washwater that meets even the most stringent regulations for emissions in the sea.
Valmet's Optifilter solution is based on mechanical ultra-filtration that does not require additive chemicals. No additive chemicals results in major cost savings during the ship's operation. Valmet's filtration system is a well-proven and robust solution with over 100 deliveries to harsh environments.
