Cahill to retire as CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines

31 October 2014

Gerry Cahill is to retire as president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines (CCL) at the end of November. Prior to taking up the post in 2007, Cahill, 63, served as CFO of Carnival Corporation.

During his time at CCL, Cahill oversaw the launch of four new ships, and introduced the Dream Class. He was also responsible for the development of Fun Ship 2.0 ship enhancements and the Carnival LIVE concert series. Cahill was a driving force behind many of the line's biggest partnerships including those with Dr. Seuss, celebrity chef Guy Fieri and comedian George Lopez.

"I can't thank Gerry enough for his tireless efforts both as CFO of Carnival Corporation and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines," said Micky Arison, chairman of Carnival Corporation & plc.

No replacement for Cahill has been named, but he will stay on in an advisory capacity for an unspecified period of time to help the leadership team through the transition period.
