Yara Marine Technologies is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract for the supply of scrubber systems on four container feeder vessels that will be operated by German shipmanager Jüngerhans Maritime Services GmbH & Co.
The four newbuilds, currently under construction at Zhoushan Changhong International Shipyard co., Ltd in Zhoushan PRC, will have scrubber systems installed in full compliance with the International Maritime Organzation's (IMO) new SOx regulation that will be implemented from 2020.
Yara Marine Technologies is a world leading exhaust gas cleaning supplier, having designed and contracted more than 100 scrubber systems since 2011, most of them already in operation. They are all in full compliance with the IMO's SOx regulations. Yara Marine scrubbers can clean fuel with Sulphur content up to 3,5 percent down to the strictest IMO Sulphur Emission Control Area (SECA) requirement of 0,1%. As such, all our scrubber systems are also in full compliance with the global 0,5% SOx limit that IMO confirmed at last week's MEPC70 meeting in London.
JÜNGERHANS MARITIME SERVICES GMBH & CO is a frontrunner in the North Sea feeder segment. With Yara Marine scrubber system installed, the container feeders can operate on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) with a Sulphur content up to 3,5% and be in compliance with both today's and future IMO regulations. The new vessels will be fully emission compliant using any HFO fuel both inside the current North European SECA, as well as outside the SECA when the new global Sulphur regulation take affect from 2020.
Installing Yara Marine scrubbers reconfirms Jungerhans position as the leading technical manager in the North Sea segment, their new vessels are future proof with respect to the new global Sulphur cap. Delivery of the first vessel is expected before 4th quarter of 2017.
